The North Face Stormbreak 1 Person Camping Tent

I have used this for 1 camping trip so far at Algonquin in July. I like that it has a small footprint and takes up little space, making it easy to find a suitable tent pad. Setup is a breeze, taking less than 10 minutes. I have used the Stormbreak 2, and for comparison, it's easier to setup than the Stormbreak 2, which isn't all that difficult itself, just has more parts and is therefore slightly more time-consuming. The only real drawback with the Stormbreak 1 is that it only has a single door (unlike the Stormbreak 2) and therefore less ventilation, so on a clear night, make sure to sleep without the rain fly in order to maximize airflow.

Packs small, is light weight but is like a cocoon for a big fella. With a 4" air mattress and a down bag it raises the sleep position enough that a 6 footer is touching the inner wall at the head and foot. The vestibule is large enough to accommodate a large dry bag and gear for bike packing. Property pegged in it was comfortable in 40km/hr on the shores of lake Ontario. A solid performer with a few quirks.

Excellent tent. Sturdy and easy to pack. Easy setup and easy to backpack.

I’ve used this tent on multiple back country multi-day trips. It’s compact, fairly light and works well in rain. My only complaint is that there could be a little more room under the fly for your pack. I try to stuff my 55 litre pack under the fly and it doesn’t really fit.
