Great Sleeping Pad for the Summertime

I love this sleeping pad for summer time use. It's very light, 8 oz, has an R value good enough for sleeping on ground during the Cascade summers and is quite small. All around an excellent pad.

I use this as a rescue tool to get injured people off the snow to prevent hypothermia. Lives in my pack everyday. Used in an incident last winter. Would not go without. Weighs nothings. Takes up no room. Recommend it all who work in incident response.

I love this pad for summer time use. It's extremely lightweight which is the reason i purchased it. It's also quite comfortable for being so light. Not to be used on snow but it's great for the summers in the PNW.

This pad is seriously impressive. When I'm going on an especially challenging trip where I want to keep pack weight low, this is the pad I bring. I'm sure some people have just had bad luck with getting a puncture right out the gates, but mine has held up perfectly. This is a pad for a very specific user who understands that ultralight products have to make sacrifices in durability. If you're just getting this because it's super light but not accepting what comes with that, or expecting the same durability as all other backpacking pads, you're probably going to be disappointed. I'm guessing a lot of these bad reviews are user error. Everyone I know who uses this pad has had zero issues.

I’ve read the reviews, and I know there have been many that this pad has not performed for. But I must be one of the lucky ones. I bought this pad in late 2019. Since then, I have used it on the High Sierra Trail, The entire John Muir trail, and many other overnight and multi day treks. I don’t out rite abuse it, but I also don’t baby it at all! I don’t use the stuff sack, I just stuff it in my pack with my quilt. Most nights it’s inside the tent, but I have used it outside as well. Though I always use a ground cover under it. I sleep directly on it, and my dog has slept on it with me. It has a couple of scratches from him, but no holes. I’ve never had any leaks, or so much as a pinhole. Only negatives are: It is loud af when moving around or when deflating it in the mornings. It Kind of sound s like a Dorito bag. Also, when wrapping it up in the AM, it doesn’t like to stuff back into the tiny stuff sack. I hate z pads so, overall, it’s easily the best sleeping pad I’ve ever used.

    Love my Uberlite

I’ll be going into my third summer season this year with my Uberlite. I’ve used it extensively for summer backcountry use since 2021, with a particularly active 2022 where I used it between late May and late September. It’s proven to be a reliable and indispensable piece of my summer gear. It’s super comfortable and surprisingly sturdy. That said I do pair it with a half centimetre thick closed cell foam pad in places where I’m either unsure of ground conditions or where I know I’ll be camped on gravel or scree. Last thing I want is a punctured inflatable (and a pricey one at that) in the field. I’ve seen two primary complaints with the Uberlite. First some claim it’s slippery. I personally have no issue with slipping off the pad at night. For reference I use Western Mountaineering down sleeping bags. I’ve also read complaints of the pad being too noisy and “crinkly” like a chip bag. Again it’s not something I personally experience as I fully inflate the pad (I like a firm sleeping surface). I do concede there is a “crinkle” if the pas is not fully inflated but as I mentioned this is solved by a full inflation. I find I can fully inflate the Uberlite by mouth in about 20-25 breaths in about one minute. I leave the pump sack at home … extra unnecessary bulk and weight I don’t need. Keep in mind this is strictly a summer pad with a fairly meagre R value. I have a Neoair XTherm for four season use. All in all I’ve been exceptionally happy with my Uberlite. I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Just wanted my opinion to counterweight all the bad reviews. Have had this pad for a long time, and no issues - but as much as I‘ve read here there‘s one important thing to consider: The Uberlite won‘t be your universally capable do-all primary mat! It‘s not for winter use, tactical, expedition or even for any otger place youd wish for a really rugged mat. Its a mat for certain specialist uses. Carried it on 2-day multipitch climbing and 2-day fastpackibg weekends, where you can accept a certain risk of a flatout for the incredible weight and size. but also just used it tons for camping in fields and for sleepovers indoors really, where its toughness never gets tested. for winter use, remote basecamp or long remote trecks I‘ll always choose x-lite over the Uber.

I got this a few years back and absolutely love it. You can fit this in any pocket in your bag or on your bike. I do pair this with a Z-Rest for comfort, but I do that with my Neo Air X-Therm as well. If you want light weight, look no further.
