the mat is definitely not

the mat is definitely not like the "original". The material is hard and Slippery and not soft as the one I have used for over 3 decades

Perfect mattress.

I still have my original Therm-a-rest classic Mattress. At 30 years old it got me through years of camping with Girl Guides and is now used by my kids for Scout Camps. Great mattress that is lightweight, provides the insulation better then a coleman air mattress for the cooler weather camping (although for snow camps, add a wool blanket). This mattress will be used by my grand kids one day. Was the best birthday present a 10 year old could get from a relative. This is great for a Youth who sleeps on anyside. Now that I am in my 40s and a bit overweight i can still stomach sleep on it but it isn't as friendly on the hips.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good for army.

For when you need something bomb proof that has no possibility of letting you down. Serves its purpose perfectly. Not the most advanced or comfortable pad out there but if you want to travel hard and fast and not worry about holes or deflation , give this a try.

Indispensable !!!

I have 2 Ridgerest pads. I use one as extra comfort on top of my yoga mat. Purchased 10 yrs ago Can't live without it!!!!! Use it daily. Pure pleasure. I use the 2nd one, purchased 2 yrs. ago, for comfort, lying on the stone deck of an outdoor pool in the summer. I do not allow it to get wet. I also use one as cushioning to do ankle/leg balance exercises for rehab after a broken ankle. One constructive criticism, the first mat, bought 10 years ago, is shorter than the newer mat. I much prefer the shorter one. Fabulous investment. Joy in my life.

This is my second pad,

This is my second pad, my first is still in the mix after many thousand miles ,but more importantly countless short day hikes which turned into overnighters. I own at least three or four of the latest and greatest mattress pads but as I pack for for my next trek I always grab my pad. I know what to expect and have confidence that I will get a good nights sleep. Since I have been hiking I never used anything but my pad, not counting the old insulate pad from days gone bye.

Works great for the extra

Works great for the extra insulation/cushioning I wanted. Happy that this quality product is still being made.

Too hard

The size is great, and I'm almost 6', but the sleeping pad is hard. The hard surface combined with ridges makes it even more uncomfortable than if it were smooth. I would have preferred a softer version.

Prefer older, shorter version

I have had your almost identical Ridgerest mat for about 5 years. I adore everything about it. I use it for yoga/meditation/stretching at home. The new mat is about 6-8 inches longer. Prefer the shorter one.
