Thule Apex XT 2 Hitch Bike Rack

I looked at several other including Thule but didnt want to spend ip to $1000.00. I checked out a cgeaper model at Canadian Tire which was similar but didnt have the quick release hitch. This takes just a minute or two to install or remove which is great as i didnt want to be driving around with a rack unless I was biking. The bikes stay secured and are easy to put on ir off. Its a perfect rack and I think for tge price you cant beat it.

This is a great rack. So easy to use and secures the bikes well.

First trip was 650 miles. I checked it each stop, and it stayed secure all trip.

I bought this so I can bike more after work before I have to pick up my kids - trying to juggle being a working parent and staying in shape. It was pretty hard to assemble, I won’t lie. But several YouTube videos later (the instructions were all pictures, no words - not very helpful), it’s on and I love it. Some reviews have complained of wobble, I haven’t found that to be an issue at all! Doesn’t move at all even when I put 70 on the highway. Keeps my bike super secure and has really helped me exercise more :) I love the feature to tilt the bike rack and base down so I can still access my trunk easily, too. I would definitely recommend but plan to spend a few hours putting it together.

My original Thule lasted about 20+ years. The new one is a little heavier, but much more durable and easier to use. Love it.

This bike rack is a lot sturdier than i had anticipated. Its just as sturdy as my other platform bike rack. You just have to make sure, your bikes will fit properly on the rack. Some configurations might not work, depending upon the seat and handle bar positions. And when i had it all installed, found out that i had to remove the rear bike bags in order for them to fit in the rack....a minor work around i had to adjust for. As for functionality, it is very easy to load and unload the bikes and it handles even rough road quite well. I like that it has a built in lock. It wont prevent anyone with a pair of good wire clippers from stealing the bikes, but for quickly running into a store, it is great. For leaving the bikes alone for longer periods, I have a very heavy duty chain and lock that I can very easily wrap around the bikes, much easier than wrapping it around my platform bike rack. All in all, I am very pleased with this bike rack, and highly recommend it.

I was very impressed that this Thule Bike rack slid right into the hitch and did everything it was suppose to do with no glitch! Well engineered.

I just purchased the Thule Apex XT and used it last weekend. Super easy to put together. Solid construction. Doesn't vibrate. Very sturdy. Easy to to load bikes and take them back off. Lock system works well.
