They asked to try them shoes in store to see if it was my right size which was cool, considering I never wore vans before and sizing can often be a bit of an issue

Vans are still the best skate shoes in my opinion and every old school skater knows this. Light on you feet, no bulk, soles that are like glue and awesome styling. I have one pair for skating in and one pair for chillin' in because they are so darn comfortable whether I'm at the skatepark or camping with my lady. If you want to win a trend award at the popularity contest, then get any of the other flashy over-hyped brands out there. However, if you want timeless styling that is functional, doesn't break the bank, and brings back memories of the days when skating was life and opened up so many aweome doors for you, this is the shoe that will take you there.
