    Happy so far

Solid hike in them today out of the box. Like the Vibram sole, lasts longer

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Super comfortable but wonder about durability

Got these boots for 40 mile backpacking trip with parts of technical terrain in North Cascades National Park. They were great - protective, comfortable, kept my feet dry and provided secure traction when it matters most. However, as I was washing them after getting back, I noticed that rear lugs are half broken after just one trip. So now I'm wondering about durability of the shoe as a whole and whether this is expected. My feet loved it though.

I have owned two pairs of these boots and was quite impressed with the longevity of the materials and construction. That being said this current model is a huge disappointment. My last two pairs lasted a year of daily use working around my property in muddy, wet conditions. The newest pair I bought started to come apart in a matter of days. First an eyelet broke off and the glue started to break down in the toe area, thankfully I received a full refund for these issues as they happened within the first 30 days. I thought I should keep using them and just not lace them fully as one is missing an eyelet and they're ridiculously expensive to just throw out. Now, one of the soles has completely split in half vertically all the way across the width of the boot and all the way to the bottom of the shoe. What if I was in the middle of a thousand mile thru hike??? Very sad these great boots have been re-engineered with obviously sub standard materials and workmanship. I have owned dozens of pairs of altras and have never been so disappointed.

I have been using these for backpacking in the Pacific NW. I’ve been happy with the fit, extra cushion (compared to Lone Peaks), durability and zero-drop feature. But I really wish Altra made a quality high-top boot that didn’t have a waterproof liner. I have worn out various Lone Peak mid mesh boots (non-waterproof) over the years and they were the perfect solution for my trips. They get wet, but they drain, breathe and dry quickly. I even used them to wade while fly fishing in the back country. If they were still wet at camp, I would simply dry my feet with a pack towel, put on dry socks, and stick my feet in a pair of bread bags, which weigh nothing. Then I could wear the damp boots around camp for simple chores without getting wet feet. Like many thru-hikers, I find the waterproof liner to be a detriment. Waterproof boots are pointless unless you can keep water from entering from the top. Once that happens, you are wearing a pair of heavy, sloshy buckets. And keeping water out is not an easy feat in constant PNW rain and wet brush unless you are wearing waterproof pants, which are hot and sweaty no matter how much you spend on wp/breathable tech. And when the weather heats up, that waterproof membrane becomes a sauna and stinky blister factory. Please Altra, for the serious hiker/fast packer who needs ankle support, make a quality high top offering. I’m currently wearing low top Lone Peak 9+ as I write this. Loving how they fit and feel. But I have an ankle situation that won’t allow me to wear them on an upcoming Wonderland Trail thru hike. So I’ll be using the Olympus's. As good as they are, that means heavy and sweaty rain paints. And higher likelihood of blisters. And extra shoes at camp and for river crossings. A version of these without the wp liner would be the perfect boot for me. I do recognize that Altra makes a Lone Peak Hiker without a wp liner. I’ve tried that shoe and it does not cut it in terms of support and traction for my needs. I’ll do a separate review on that one.

Extremely comfortable, I work in law enforcement and wear these long hours. I love the cushion, and they feel light when walking. My only complaint is they are not black, more of a greenish gray.

Not sure why they removed my original positive posted review but I love these boots. Very comfortable, lightweight and supportive. Much better than my old go to. Will continue to buy these as long as you make them.

Just got the shoes for my job. I ordered black due to dress code… these would work if they were actually black. They appear to be a tad bit green. The fit seems fine and what I was looking for. My uniform requirements are pretty strict and these won’t work unfortunately. I will have to return. It’s a shame because the picture show a black boot.

I have lonepeak trail runners in size 9, these feel a full size smaller. But I took them on a 4 1/2 mile hike so I am stuck. I was thinking they might feel better after the hike but they did not. So while I like the boot, I bought the wrong size.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
