Worse than the Torin 7s but better than all else

Still a great shoe for wider / bigger feet. Sole is SIGNIFICANTLY harder. Used to be sooooo soft, like walking on a mattress lol. But now it’s just super hard. Also material feels significantly cheaper. Love the new colors in the Wide size though!

I’m trying to shop for shoes and this review tab keeps popping up. I haven’t even purchased or worn yet.

Bought my first pair of Torin 8’s at a local shoe shop on the recommendation of my podiatrist. I have neuropathy and needed a wider toe box. After wearing them for a couple of weeks to work out in I ordered a second pair for everyday. They are so comfortable and fit so well. Definitely would recommend these shoes.

My 4th pair of Torins and something’s off with the 8s. Similar to other reviews the comfort isn’t there like it used to be. I got posterior tibial shin splints after a few weeks and had to put stiff arch supports which I haven’t required with Altras before. Bummed that such an expensive shoe will probably spend more time in my closet than on the road. Forever an Altra wearer just need to try a different one possibility. (I’ve loved the Lone Peak for trails, zero issues there!)

I've had 4 pairs of Torins and loved them. The redesigned heel on these create blisters that I never had an issue with all of my previous shoes.

The shoes didn't meet my expectations at all. Despite being marketed as wide toe-box shoes designed for comfortable walking, they feel extremely stiff and uncomfortable. What’s especially strange is that they are wide around the toes, but narrow in the midfoot area. They squeeze the foot in a way that actually causes numbness, and I don’t even have wide feet. I have always worn standard-width shoes my entire life and have never experienced this problem before. They are also tiring for long walks because they feel rigid and restrictive instead of comfortable and natural to walk in. I really regret spending so much money on them and would not recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been a Torin wearer for years and have a couple different pairs always in rotation. The Torin 8 changes turned it into a different shoe. The foam is too stiff. I appreciate and need a shoe with more cushion, which the previous models always provided The heel also felt different almost rocker like and I was leaning back on my heels. These used to be my favorite, and other than the model with that terrible tongue design, I could count on the Torin’s consistency in design and performance. I didn’t give up on Altra though, just the Torin.
