Black Diamond Men's Absolute Winter Mitts

These mitts have yet to let me down, I have taken them out in 8F with windchill -25F with toasty warm hands. If you get cold hands easily or are serious about mountaineering these are the mitts to get!

These gloves are terrific. I live in Alberta where it gets proper cold and my hands have had no issues. They're incredibly bulky and you have virtually zero dexterity with them on, but I've never worn a warmer pair of gloves. They come with a detachable liner that is more of a light glove in itself, and is perfect for milder weather. I couldn't be happier that I bought these.

To say this mitten is warm is understatement. To reiterate, if you get cold hands easy like myself, this will solve all those issues. At the expense of near complete dexterity loss, my hands felt like I was tanning on a beach chair at the top of a few of the Breckenridge cornices. Ski poles are very difficult to hold. Even a few instances where i forgot to put them back on when I began a run (laced around my wrist), fell and filled them with snow; they would quickly dry out and warm up my hands within 30 seconds of shaking them out. The lace system comfortably wraps around your wrist and does not drop too low. The fact that this piece also has a glove liner, makes it easier to dry out and clean. Also with this liner’s DWR coating and nose wipe, they would make a great spring skiing 3 finger glove! At a whopping small 424g, this behemoth of a hand sleeping bag weighs ~2x your cell phone. Since they are so large, they are indeed hard to pack with a full 20L backcountry bag. I was on the hunt for the warmest solution on the slopes with avoiding any tech or hand warmers. This is it.

Last Monday, I went to a rare place in the mountains known for record breaking low temperatures in the U. S. called Peter Sinks, Utah, while it was -53 degrees Fahrenheit to test your Absolute Mitts. The mitts kept my hands warm just fine for the first 30 minutes. I then discovered that when my fingers got cold, all I had to do was curl all of my fingers and thumb up within each Mitt while still wearing the mitt and move them across each other. They then warmed up again! I did this for over an hour and could do it indefinitely. That is a fantastic mitt! Thank you!

Warmest mitts I've ever purchased! They were a Christmas present for a family member who always has cold hands in the snow. She was very happy to receive them!

They are clearly the warmest gloves I’ve ever had. I’m making a trip to Antarctica, so hopefully they will do the job! Will probably write another review when I get back.

Some mornings the negative teens or lower are just too cold for the regular gloves. These ARE the Absolute MItt for sure. When the fingers are gone due to whatever conditions, it’s awesome to pull these out of the pack and bring the fingers back. After a nice recovery in these things, I’m usually good to get back to the tasks at hand. As a guide/instructor, on the super cold days, these can help me or a client/student continue the lesson/day/tour whatever without the suffer factor of frost nipped fingers and cold hands.

If you want warm hands during cold winter days, get these. You will never need hand warmers again. No batteries required.
