    Incorrect length spec

This site claims thd antenna is 28" long. This appears to be wrong. The manufacturer's site (cobra.com) states that it is 42" long. Someone at Canadian Tire might want to check on this!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I lived in a 65 foot Mobile Home trailer on my brothers farm in Dutton Ontario about 6 years ago.The farm is 1 kilometer northeast of Dutton, and about 700 yards away from the 401 highway. I had purchased this antenna from Canadian Tire and had also purchased a SWR Meter from Radio Shack the same day. I set the antenna up on the roof of my mobile home (which was all metal and tar covered ), and drilled a hole in the wall to run the cable into my den room in the trailer.( they give you a good amount of cable! ) I was very pleased to get a 1.3 reading on the SWR Meter, right out of the box & with no antenna trimming! At that time, the only c.b. radio that I owned was a 4 watt Cobra hand held model ( the wxst model with 40 c.b. channels and weather channels too )....( also has scan capability ) (Check out "Durham radio" on the internet! ) Anyways...I was able to talk to the passing truckers on the 401 highway, & the reception was excellent! The truckers found it hard to believe that I was only using a handheld model! ( although my handheld unit has the same power as any cobra mobile unit....4 watts ) I was able to communicate with each passing trucker, for a good 15 minutes... as they travelled 65 miles an hour down the highway! One evening, while talking on my C.B. I asked a trucker that was heading east for London..."where abouts are you now"? He kept on informing me about how far east of Dutton he was. He was blown away at how clear I was broadcasting...and I was very pleased with my reception as well! When he started to get out of range, I asked him where you now? And he told me he was at the Colonel Talbot road ( hwy 4 ) overpass...which is 16.49 miles from me! So basically with this antenna, I was able to communicate to the truckers anywhere within a 33 mile radius! I will end this Lengthy review by saying that this antenna had stayed on my roof for over 5 years, through all seasons...and yet there isn't even a flake of rust on it! I also believe that my excellent broadcast and reception was in part due to the fact the antenna sat about 12 feet off the ground, but more importantly...the fact that my roof was metal. If you do a little research, you will find that a good metal antenna "base" acts as a sort of "reflector". Which is also why these Cobra antenna's work so great on an automobile's metal roof too. After moving from the farm, I then used the same antenna on my cars trunk lid. I only had to trim a half inch off the antenna in order to get a 1.2 reading on my SWR Meter. Bottom Line...excellent antenna! and worthy of this reviewers time! ;o)

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Was able to reduce the length of the whip so it would tune into the 10 meter Ham band. Well made and appears to handle a 100 watt load. The specs for this antenna say it can tune from 26 to 30mhz . The only issue is cost. CT sells this antenna for about $20 more than many CB or Ham stops. Shop around!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Tuned easily and quickly without even having to cut any of the antenna. Good performance for the price. It's no K40 but still a great antenna for a novice.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I have been selling CB radio equipment since 1991 and have a lot of experience in this field. Cobra makes excellent CB radios and if you're looking for CB they are a good choice. If you need an antenna stick with the brand names that have been doing this right for decades. Wilson, K40, Francis etc will all do a good job. If you don't know how to "match" your antenna, check the web for tutorials or try your local truck stop of radio specialty store.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this antenna the other day to replace a dying and ageing antenna. Well here’s the low down. I being working and playing with CB radio for some time now (about 12 years) both home and automotive types. This antenna was far from easy to work with. First thing I had to do was CUT about 4 inches off the bat to TRY to match channel 40 to channel 1 AKA SWR. After some time fighting with that (about 9 hours) there was NO WAY of getting the SWR below 2, I would have even settled for a 1.5 SWR reading. NOPE not a CHANCE! No matter where I placed the antenna on my car, be it the trunk; roof ANYWHERE, no way could I get a good SWR reading. Also I notice as I managed to get some swr reading my output power would drop from 4 watts to about .6, so If I did the math right on this most people whom what to talk to me have to be on my bumper. So the end results. Stuck the old dying BUT STILL WORKING antenna back on my car, matched it to my Radio , got my SWR reading down to believe it or not ratio 1:1 and power out to it 4 watt and took that lovely thing I thought was a GREAT buy and fired it in the garbage. P.s I know it’s not my SWR/Power/modulator tester, I tested it on 4 different antennas and Radios  and the only reason i gave this a 4 star rating on the Quality is because it look and feel Quite Tough

No, I do not recommend this product.
