They’re really amazing. I went on a trail run/walk and it felt like I was walking on clouds. I did sprain my ankle since they’re not ankle length but they’re amazing and look good.

    Best Peregrine so far

I recently replaced my Peregrine 14 shoes with Peregrine 16. I’m a long-time fan of Peregrine shoes for running and hiking. My first run in Peregrine 16 included gravel, mud, wet grass, wood chips, a few rocks, tree roots, boardwalk, about one mile of road, and a stream crossing. I found the Peregrine 16 provided an excellent balance of grip, traction, stability, trail feel, foot protection, and versatility. I prioritize versatility in trail running shoes over performance on specific terrain. I was happy to see the heel stack height increase from 28 mm on Peregrine 14 to 32 mm on Peregrine 16 while maintaining the 4 mm heel-to-toe drop. I found the heel stack height of 32 mm provided great balance between enough cushion for distance while maintaining stability and adequate trail feel. I think the Peregrine 16 added room for my toes when compared with the Peregrine 14. My toes were a bit crowded by the width of the Peregrine 14. The firm ride of the Peregrine 16 was good on the trail, but the firm ride may limit my use of the Peregrine 16 for road-to-trail runs. The Peregrine 16 shed water and dried quickly after I submerged the shoes during a stream crossing. I liked the padding in the tongue and around the ankle. It seems like some shoes sacrifice padding in the upper to save weight, but I prioritize comfort from padding over saving weight.

Thanks for your feedback! We love seeing the Peregrine 16 put through its paces across such diverse terrain from mud to stream crossings. It’s great to hear the increased 32mm stack height and the roomier toe box are hitting that 'sweet spot' of cushion and stability for you.

    Perfect fit

My favorite version of the Peregrine since number 10. Great fit and very good grip. My first run in them was on snow, ice and wet surfaces with no slipping.

    Great Trail Running Shoe!

I’ve really enjoyed running in the Peregrine 16 so far. They look great and feel like an ideal balance between protection and lightweight responsiveness. They don’t feel bulky or overly cushioned, which I appreciate since I typically wear barefoot shoes and prefer footwear that doesn’t dramatically alter my mechanics. The drop feels natural and comfortable, and overall they’ve been a great, well-balanced trail shoe.

    Excellent Trail Shoe

I run on local trails that are a mixture of sand, dirt, and plenty of tree roots. This shoe handled all without a problem. It's comfortable but stable with good grip. I really liked the Peregrine 15. I like this one, the Peregrine 16, even more. It's just fun to run in. For me it was true to size (size 10).

Excellent shoe. Wished there was a size 14.5 or a slimmer width.

I am disappointed that the lugs have been reduced from 5mm to 4mm. Also, with the added insole cushioning, I experience less stability on steep, irregular downhills. I suppose the new 16 may be great for most people, but not me. There are plenty of trail shoes for the middle market of well-maintained trails, but the Saucony Peregrine 15 (including version 8+) was ideal for rough and steep trails.
